Summary in brief
Gunma University Centre for Research and Training on IPE (the Centre) visited WHO to discuss future collaborative activities with Service Delivery and Safety Department (SDS). Discussions were fruitful and both sides reached some results as follows.
1) International Symposium on Patient Safety
The 3rd Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety will be convened in Tokyo on 13-14 April 2018. In conjunction with the Summit, the Centre will organize the International Symposium on Patient Safety in collaboration with Patient Safety and Risk Management Unit of SDS. The Coordinator of the unit, Dr. Neelam Dhingra-Kumar, welcomed the plan and showed her willingness to support the symposium (Photo 2).
2) Volunteer at WHO
It was agreed that staff of the Centre and Gunma Prefecture, Dr. Hiroyuki Takechi, will be sent to SDS/WHO as a volunteer for 6 months, starting October 2018. The TORs will be considered to match the areas of interest of WHO, the Centre and Gunma Prefecture.
3) IPE Training Course 2018 at Gunma University
The Centre explained to the Director of the Health Workforce Department, Dr. Jim Campbell, that IPE Training Course will be organized during 20-25 August 2018. The Centre expressed its willingness to invite the Director to the course and the detail of the course will be shared in the near future.
