Report of Global Forum on WHO CC

The World Health Organization (WHO) was officially established on 7th April 1948, when its Constitution came into force. To celebrate its establishment, the first Global Forum on WHO Country Cooperation Strategies (WHO CCS) was held in Lyon, France on 7th April 2026.
The objectives of this forum were as follows;
1. Enhance the effectiveness and coordination of the WHO Collaborating Centre (WHO CC) community to support WHO’s strategic objectives.
2. Strengthen strategic alignment and collective positioning of WHO and WHO CCs within the evolving global health architecture.

As objective 1, Dr. Makino had a presentation entitled “Activities of the WHO CC for Research and Training on Interprofessional Education (JPN-89)” at the WHO CC Marketplace and poster Session and Global direction to regional impact. In addition, information on the IPE Training Course scheduled for the end of August was disseminated. Furthermore, the delegation discussed future collaboration with participants on building local capacity in disaster risk management education and integrating science-based methods, the activities align with the strategy’s goals of strengthening health system resilience, community safety, and sustainable development in the Western Pacific Region as Climate-Resilient Health Systems (Figure 1).
As objective 2, the delegation discussed with staff of WHO/IARC in terms of collaboration between WHO/IARC and Gunma University WHO CC (Figure 2). In addition, it was agreed to hold international symposium inviting staff of Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Japan (Figure 3).
