The World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for the Western Pacific convened the Fourth Regional Forum of WHO Collaborating Centres in the Western Pacific from 28 to 29 November 2022 in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Effective and strategic partnerships need to be established to ensure the maximum contribution of WHO CCs and alignment with WHO priorities, and this fourth regional forum focused on the results of the “For the Future” stocktaking review and the role of WHO CCs in accelerating the implementation of this vision in their countries, building on the lessons learned and progress identified in the three forums.
The objectives of the Fourth Regional Forum are:
(1) to reflect on how WHO and WHO CCs have worked together – since the previous forum, the adoption of For the Future and throughout the COVID-19 response – to advance the regional vision;
(2) to identify opportunities to maximize the contribution of WHO CCs to WHO’s work in countries to respond to current and future health challenges; and
(3) to explore mechanisms for more effective ways of working between WHO and WHO CCs in the Region for accelerated implementation of For the Future.
Gunma University introduced its activities as the only institution of multidisciplinary education (IPE) in the Western Pacific region to the participants through posters and discussions.
