The Third Regional Forum was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam with total 270 participants from member countries of WHO/WPRO. The forum focused on WHO’s new “triple Billion” targets, as spelled out in the Thirteenth General Programme of the Work 2019-2023 with a particular emphasis on achieving results at country level. These ambitious targets are to achieve: Presentation of IPE
-1 billion more people with health coverage
-1 billion more people protected from health emergencies and
-1 billion more people enjoying better health and well-being
WHO Collaborating Centres (CCs) are instrumental partners that provide
strategic support in implementing WHO’s mandate and programmes, and in developing and strengthening institutional capacity in countries and regions. Maximizing CC contribution requires effective and strategic partnership to ensure alignment between their work and WHO priorities. WHO/WPRO convened the first and second regional forums of WHO CCs in the Western Pacific in 2014 and 2016, respectively, to share WHO priorities and discuss how to collaboratively work to improve population health nationally, regionally and globally.
The Forum provided opportunities to define and shape the contribution of WHO CCs and to prioritize and plan joint efforts for the coming five years and longer term, towards the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. The proposed objectives of the Forums are:
(1) To share good practices and reflect on progress since the Second Forum in 2016;
(2) To strengthen and promote innovative collaboration and networking mechanisms,
identifying opportunities and enhancing synergies for more impact at the country level;
and
(3) To discuss plans to maximize contribution of the WHO CCs towards achievement of the
“triple billion” targets in WHO’s Thirteenth General Programme of Work 2019-2023.
Gunma University actively introduced and contributed our Interprofessional Education training courses in collaboration with other WHO CCs to disseminate IPE programme in Western Pacific Region.
